Yes, I double majored when I was a first-generation college student at Cerritos Community College in southeast Los Angeles County.
I proudly earned my AA-T degrees in Economics and Political Science.
You should double major because you can and because you keep your options open after you transfer to a 4-year university and beyond.
You can double major in Political Science and another academic field of your choice, such as Business, Communications, Economics, Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, History, or Environmental Science.
Double majoring requires that you complete degree requirements for the AA-T in Political Science and the 2nd AA-T/AS-T degree program of your choice.
To earn your AA-T in Political Science, you have to complete at least 60 units across 20 unique courses.
In order to earn your 2nd AA-T/AS-T degree in the program of your choice, you have to complete courses unique to the 2nd program.
Yes, let's walk through an example.
Say you wanted to earn your AA-T in Political Science and AA-T in History.
You could complete 18 courses that count towards both degrees.
Next, you would need to complete 2 additional courses to earn your AA-T in Political Science.
Then, you would need to complete another course to earn your AA-T in History.
This means you would need to complete a total of 21 courses to double major and earn both degrees.
